San Francisco-based firm Form4 Architecture, renowned for its Bay Area tech space designs, was awarded local entitlement for a new cutting-edge sustainable office building in Stanford Research Park, Palo Alto, California. Archstudio revitalizes a rural house in Beijing’s suburbs with recycled wooden construction

Located in a typical Chinese village on the outskirts of Beijing, ‘Mixed house’ designed by Archstudio, is a transformation of a courtyard house into a holiday retreat. Height Extension

The project consisted of dismantling the roof of a three-storey building, with three apartments per floor, and replacing it with a new volume that contains the enlargement of two of the apartments on the top floor, a total of 97m2 plus 54m2 of terraces. Pablo Casares The construction was made of wood to facilitate the process and minimize weight. In fact, despite adding a floor, the total weight was reduced and thus doesn´t add load to a somewhat delicate building of the 1940ies, with a protected façade due to its historical value.
