Office building, store and showroom of a Fabrics C
The building is treated like a container, parked in a long narrow site along the Athens ring road and next to a toll station. This is the office, showroom and warehouse of a company that sells fabrics. The eye of the passer-by or driver that passes the toll is “trapped” by the monolithic volume of exposed concrete that constitutes the facade of the second and third floors of the building, towards the highway. In contrast, the volume of the ground and first floors has large repetitive openings, that mimic the rhythm of a film, “freezing”, frame-by-frame the perpetual motion of the cars for the users of the building. Archi Folds
ArchiFolds, winner of the Creative Heroes Awards, is an innovative series of textile structures inspired by traditional Japanese folding techniques: “Embedded origami patterns afford natural movement characteristics, growth and metamorphosis” explains Samira Boon. Bestseller is a world-wide fashion group with shops in over 70 countries, featuring well-known brands such as Vero Moda, Jack & Jones, Only, Pieces and several others.
The new office complex for about 800 employees is therefore intended as a showroom for Bestseller’s design-driven corporate identity, andresembles a varied flotilla of buildings at different levels, which are connected by a series of outdoor spaces like atria, courtyards, terraces and roof gardens.

At a moment when libraries are perceived to be under threat from a shrinking public realm on one side and digitization on the other, the Seattle Central Library creates a civic space for the circulation of knowledge in all media, and an innovative organizing system for an ever-growing physical collection – the Books Spiral.
