Gaudenti 1971 - Po

Gaudenti 1971 is a new format that mixes the small, Italian fine pastry shop with a large international bakery. This was the starting point to define a space that could convey both respect for the traditional values of Italian culture and a strong drive for renewal. This premise translated into a careful renovation of existing elements, which were systematically integrated into the new decor. While a different graphic motif was designed for each venue, giving a new interpretation of historical decorative styles, the consistent use of velvet and blue wood ensures the brand is instantly recognizable. The original wood paneling from the early 1950s was renovated to lighten up overall decor and make it more delicate. In the same way, the ce... More

The first phase of the project brought the venue back to its original layout: unnecessary walls were removed to reveal its longitudinal profile,... Gaudenti 1971 - Vittorio Emanuele

While a different graphic motif was designed for each venue, giving a new interpretation of historical decorative styles, the consistent use of velvet and blue wood ensures the brand is instantly recognizable.Inside one of Turin’s oldest fine pastry shops, all elements with historical value were recovered and enhanced, while those... The Coffee Movement

In a city seemingly saturated with coffee shops, where coffee is big business, could there be room for a small, neighborhood-based, owner-operated shop to take hold? Could a space built around the relationship between the customer and the barista make a difference in the cityscape? These were the questions we set out to answer with our design for the new The Coffee Movement outpost in historic Chinatown. On an unassuming city street with the distinction of hosting a cable car route, this café – just 300 square feet – is a small space that’s turning out to have a big impact.Rapt Studio partnered with owner Bryan Overstreet to realize his dream of serving great coffee, hand-crafted from sustainably grown beans. Bryan’s values and pe... More

Zanotti - Pane, Dolci e Caffè

The manifestation of more than one reality merges within a single space, in this case: a bar & bakery whose interior has been designed to accompany the customer during all stages of the day: from breakfast to happy hour. The shop renovation started in March 2017 and saw its inauguration in September, same year. A combination of finishes and surfaces tending towards white meets the client’s will to highlight the warm and enveloping colour of the noble food: bread.Complying with the structure of the property, the spiky counter is divided into three segments, each of which designed for a specific use: the bar area with attached tables for breakfast; the pastry area for brunch and snacks; and finally the bakery for lunches and takeaway brea... Hotel Andaz Munich

ANDAZ MUNICH – DESIGN STORYconcrete proudly presents the opening of its latest hotel project, Andaz Munich in Schwabing. Like a kaleidoscope, the Andaz hotel reflects the culture and tradition of the neighbourhood, creating a stimulating and inspiring atmosphere where guests and locals can feel at home. The combination of state-of-the-art technology and old traditions that makes Munich so unique forms a sense of tension that can be found throughout the hotel design. The ceiling structure illustrates this contrast via a literally interwoven network of rough wood and high-gloss anodised metal. The connecting axis between the different areas which brings all functions together in a single hybrid space ('we share') is a lively place to meet and... More

Green Option Food Court

The concept rotates around the idea of serving healthy food, providing sophisticated yet informal seating settings with soft chairs, benches and places for gathering, laying down and relaxing with friends. Green Option is the off-line branch of a well known Chinese company selling salads and healthy food online. Main request for the new store was about creating a place that could interpret and reflect the highest company vision and values, clear space, healthy food, meditative environment that may allow customers to detach form urban crowd and noise. Each room offers a different functional program. Café, restaurant, cocktail bar and an external patio are all served by a central kitchen and organized along a backbone corridor where an o... More

MERKATO

Taking advantage of the industrial space of an old aircraft hangar, with their former lives in the subconscious, the design of this new gastronomic market and restaurant, situated in central Valencia Eixample district is based on historical and culinary sensibilities of the city. With the helping hand of Valentín Sánchez Arrieta our studio has created a renewed market concept based on honesty, both in materials and products.Logically, efforts have been made to maintain the industrial nature of space without falling into topics, thematization or traditions. Using simplicity as a principle, we begin the journey starting from the original facade, without retouching nor additions. Access to the premise is through a grand door made of solid pine... More

City of Saints Coffee Roasters

T by Luxbite

The design of the new addition to the Luxbite family, patisserie "T by Luxbite", aims to show that the best things can come in small packages, just like their pastries within. The overall design focuses on the presentation and quality of the shop’s unique products; complementing them without overshadowing them. The shop's name is derived from their sale pastry of choice, tarts. Similarly, the meticulous interior design draws inspiration from the intricately crafted tarts. The shop's 19sqm ground floor corner location along Flinders Lane required a stronger emphasis on shop-front prominence, and maximizing the use of all available internal space. The owners required 5 separate purpose-built fridges to fit within the shop's footprint... Swing's Coffee Roasters

For Swing’s third location at 640 14th Street, NW CORE delivered a functional design that echoes the majestic Beaux-Arts building that surrounds it. As with the other Swing’s coffee bars in Foggy Bottom and Del Ray (Alexandria), this location reflects the neighborhood aesthetic. As customers enter Swing’s from the courtyard of the Metropolitan Square Building, the 25-foot coffee counter is the grand gesture in the space, punctuated with a gleaming pastry display and pour over and espresso stations. Reminiscent of a vintage soda shop or pharmacy worktop, the back bar coffee counter is a grand walnut display brightened with antique glass and brushed brass. It cleverly encases the taller equipment, dishwashing and coffee warmers while providin... More

RareSweet

CORE created a light, modern bakery for pastry chef Meredith Thomason. The design is inspired by Thomason’s menu of heritage recipe desserts. Located at 963 Palmer Alley in CityCenterDC, the 1,200 SF RareSweets is the only bakery in the development.   Like Tomason’s culinary creations, the RareSweets design reinterprets heritage baking in a fun and modern way. For example, a wooden apron – inspired by a design motif found in old cookbooks and pie tins – outlines the baking area. Larger, horizontally-stacked subway tiles face the walls instead of traditional subway tiles. Supersized hexagonal floor tiles replace the traditionally small-tile treatment. Linear butcher block and Mink marble countertops replace the... More
