La Birreria
La Birreria, the 15 th floor rooftop bar and restaurant utop Eataly’s Flatiron location, is a dynamic space designed by TPG Architecture. The concept for La Birreria evokes a 1920s industrial brewery, with brass drum-cymbal inspired light fixtures leading you towards the skyline and copper clad brewing vats set against black subway tiling. Each design element –– from the ground floor entry and themed elevators, to the ascending staircase and the restaurant’s hostess stand –– all reflect the industrial scheme.The 22-seat bar is topped with white Carrara marble and the tables are made with salvaged wood. The hotel’srestaurant, lounge, and rooftophave been conceived as places of discovery, surprise, and rejuvenation—Frances Hodgson Burnett’s “The Secret Garden” meets Milan’s Villa NecchiCampiglio. Tucked into the bustle of Manhattan’s historic Flower District, guests encounter a botanically inspired design and crafted romance seen through a thoroughly modern lens.

A new roof for Verona’s historic arena
The architects von Gerkan, Marg and Partners (gmp) and the engineers schlaich bergermann partner (sbp) have won the international ideas competition for a roof over Verona’s historic arena. The jointly developed design was the winning entry of over 80 competing submissions, and continues the many years of cooperation between the two practices. Following the Borgo Trento hospital and the new trade exhibition halls, this could become the architects’ third project in Verona.
