EXPO 2015 PAVILLON MAROC

Responding to the Expo’s theme, « Feeding the Planet, » Morocco‘s pavilion for the world exposition focuses on the notion of rurality and the diversity and richness of its territories. Stretching the entire length of its site from north to south, the pavilion leads the visitor on a metaphorical journey through the country from the Mediterranean to the Sahara, highlighting the agriculture and traditions specific to each region. Referring to the materiality and sensuality of rural construction in Morocco, the Pavilion of Morocco presents a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional earthen structures. Adobe is placed within enormous pre-fabricated wooden panels which are then mounted onto a wooden frame. This method adapts the use of t... More

Italy Pavilion Milan Expo 2015

The Concept The Universal Exposition of 2015 represents an excellent opportunity for Italy to revive and promote its many points of excellence in manufacturing, technology and science. And at the very center of this mission is the Italian Pavilion. The nursery symbolizes the nurturing of projects and talents so that they can grow, providing them with fertile soil, offering them shelter and giving prominence to new energies. The tree is a symbol of life, of nature at its most primitive, a central icon around which all activities are arranged. And in a horizontal plan view, the roots are designed to connect the many different areas, particularly those dedicated to the Regions. The pavilion is innovative, unusual, surprising, unique,... BAHRAIN PAVILION EXPO 2015

Archaeologies of Green, the pavilion of the Kingdom of Bahrain, at the Expo Milano 2015 is a poetic interpretation of the cultural agrarian heritage of the country, which stems from the ancient civilization of Dilmun. With ten distinctive fruit gardens, containing trees that will be fruit–bearing at different moments throughout the six-month duration of the exhibition, the pavilion also features archaeological artifacts that celebrate the millennia long tradition of agriculture and perpetuate the many myths of Bahrain as the location of the Garden of Eden and the land of the million palm trees. Built out of white prefabricated concrete panels, the pavilion will be moved to Bahrain at the end of the Expo and once rebuilt will serve as... More

Japanese Pavilion EXPO 2015

The Concept Japan joins Expo Milano 2015 with the aim of proposing its food culture as an example of a healthy, sustainable and balanced diet, and as a model that can alleviate the problems of hunger and global ecology. By the same token, it also sees this event as the perfect opportunity for promoting its image following the 2011 earthquake, encouraging tourism and business opportunities. Japan’s participation unfurls essentially around two words: Health and Edutainment, or educational entertainment. Its typical dishes, based on rice, raw fish and vegetables are proposed as a balanced way of eating, contrasting with the excesses that can lead to obesity for a billion people. Projects for schools are also a vehicle for tradit... More

Spanish Pavillion at Expo Milano 2015

First Prize in the competition for the design and exhibition contents for the Spanish Pavilion at Expo Milan 2015. The project, entitled “Language of Taste”, offers a seemingly simple, smart solution for the complex technical, spatial, functional and thematic of this Expo. A pavilion with a clear and contained geometry, a fusion of the traits that our country exports: the tradition and the innovation. This duality creates a permeable, attractive and flexible space, incorporating a free and open as a patio of oranges, another element of identity of the Spanish culture. This rotund implantation manages to create an easily understandable pavilion, generator of memories, whose structure of frames creates an effect of repetition that reinforces... More

UAE Pavilion Milan Expo

The national pavilion for the United Arab Emirates occupies a large site close to the centre of the Milan Expo and is accessed via its main circulation axis, the decumanus. From here, visitors are drawn into the mouth of a canyon-like space, defined by two undulating 12-metre-high walls. Influenced by ancient planning principles, the pavilion’s interior evokes the narrow pedestrian streets and courtyards of the traditional desert city, and its contemporary reinterpretation in the sustainable Masdar masterplan. The high walls continue through the 140 metre site in a series of parallel waves, unifying the visitor spaces within a dynamic formal language designed to convey the ridges and texture of sand dunes A ramp leads gently upwards from... China Corporate United Pavilion (CCUP) @ EXPO 2015

The image of power that arises from the breaking of ground to the sprouting of seeds has inspired the design of the China Corporate United Pavilion (CCUP). The life that comes from the green heart, that contains the auditorium space, transforms into the spiral of a DNA chain tracing an upward path, to then take on an elliptical form: the ramp gently accompanies visitors upwards towards the open spaces of the Italian-Chinese garden and the terrace. The pavilion is a temporary construction for these six months. Its simple geometric shape of an outer rectangle – aesthetically lightweight and breathable thanks to the breathable membrane and glass walls – covers the harmonious inner curves that represent the vitality of Chinese enterprises.
