Brussels Airport Connector

Connector is a modern, state-of-the art building in the heart of the airport. Literally a connecting building it is also an architectural bridge between two different zeitgeists and styles. Connector itself is a contemporary, open, low-energy building with an eye to the future. The 11,000 m2 ceiling systems from Hunter Douglas are an integral part of the design. One of Connector’s immediately striking features is the saw-tooth roof. Apart from aesthetic and technical considerations, this saw-tooth structure of the roof has the advantage of letting in more natural light, thus creating a pleasant environment as well as being energy-efficient. With 25 screening lanes in Connector, Brussels Airport not only has the biggest screening platfo... More

Prosta Tower Office Building

This unusual high-rise will stand against the windowless facade of its even higher, 120-metre neighbour. The neighbour’s name is Łucka City – the biggest and perhaps the least appreciated apartment building in Warsaw. The new house shall resemble an oversized cabinet, finished with wood panelling on the sides, glazed with an undulating curtain wall shielding the apartments from the sunlight and the traffic noise. The second version of the investment, redesigned into an office tower, features a concrete exo skeleton that serves a double function of structural support and heating prevention. More

Waterschap Brabantse Delta

The Water Authority ‘Brabantsse Delta’ has realized a new office building in Breda, with strong focus on energy efficiency of the building and comfortable workspaces for its users. The building is 160 meter long and has a tight linear composition. The office only has flexible workspaces and the interior looks bright and quiet. The challenge in the design was found in the combination of low-energy and high comfort. Concrete Core Activation was used as building heating for its energy efficiency and thermal comfort, where the ceilings are of concrete. In a normal situation this is conflict with workable space acoustics in an open office concept, where a suspended ceiling is necessary. Hunter Douglas cam with a solution with the type 30BD... More

Chanhassen High School

Minnesota's newest, 405,000 sq. foot high school designed by Perkins + Will (formerly Rozeboom Miller Architects) opened September 2009. Complete with a new football stadium, 2 practice fields, 8 tennis courts, 650-seat theater, and open cafeteria, the $93 million campus also features 4 wings or "houses" allowing students to focus on core classes with one set of instructors for a two-year period. The architect envisioned a warm, real-wood ceiling for Chanhassen's new high school. "We wanted to create a feeling of warmth, of an inviting atmosphere," Principal Paul McMahan told the Victoria Town Square, "We wanted to create something that reminded people more of a college campus building than a high school and I think we achieved that."...
