Casa Guaratuba

André Ávila Arquitetura as Architects

The Guaratuba house was a different project. Seeking integration with nature and respect for the land, it was designed to be at street level, approximately 1.50m above ground level. This ensured the lowest environmental impact, leaving the soil free to maintain its natural absorption of rainwater.
With a simple program, the house focuses on the large central leisure area, being designed in an “L” shape.

The central part is defined by a large wooden deck and a beautiful whirlpool, which frames nature and harmoniously integrates the entire house.
In one part of the house, there is the kitchen, dining room and TV room, all connected and overlooking a large external balcony.
In the other part, there is a master suite, 3 bedrooms and a guest bathroom. These connect with nature through a beautiful back porch. So when you wake up and open the doors, you are faced with a beautiful view of the forest.

The materiality of the house is simple, with paint on plaster and wood acting as protagonists, focusing on the spaces and summer use of the space.
We can say that it is a simple house, but with the vision of making the most of its use – summer holidays – and respecting nature, with a layout that frees up the soil and uses the forest as the biggest decoration and landscaper of the project.
