Premiered at FuoriSalone 2011, TWIST are concentric spiral lamps designed by ZO_loft as part of a collection of products for the Italian brand “Lamidea”. They are made in Italy products, following sustainable design’s criteria and inspired by POP-UP books (items POPS-UP when used and turn back to a flat metal sheet when placed back in the box). ZO-loft’s proposal for Lamidea is all based on a strategy made up of concentric spirals, simple lines and stylized figures, on the complicity with the end user, optimization of technology and production and distribution processes. Processing is optimized to have a finished product in not more then 90 seconds laser cutting a single stainless steel sheet. Then simply brushing. This helps to reduce machining time and reducing energy consumption. The compact packaging, as well as reducing material, reduces transportation costs and the consequent fuel consumption. Being made of steel, all products are also fully recyclable. In this way the lowest cost per user = the lowest cost to the environment. All items can be customized with lettering and logos. On 150° of the Unification of Italy, ZO_loft has chosen to customize the Twist lamps with famous phrase of topical interest, inspired by italian history and culture. An aphorism of Oscar Wilde out of the movie “La vita è bella” and some verses out of the Divina Commedia of Dante Alighieri (Purgatorio • Canto VI v. 76-78).
