The tree light family is designed as a linear, sculptural standing and suspension lighting concept with its aesthetical origin in the abstraction of shapes in nature.

The underlying concept to this series of lights is one stem that forks out into roots and various branches to form the foot and the shade fixtures respectively. The lamp shade can be seen as an abstraction of a treetop similar to architectural tree scale models. The overall form of the treetop is a sphere, which has been distorted in various planes. Five laser cut sheet metal strips create the lamp shade. Each individual strip extends into the third dimension simply by bending it.

The intriguing detail of the Tree Light is its unusual source of light, hidden in the top part of the light stem. The light was thought of as an indirect source which would bounce inside the lamp shade before it leaves its origin. All the onlooker will see when turned off is a void space, while switched on an abundant play of reflections bounces inside the lamp shade and exits it at various, random angles. The clue is the reflective surface finish inside the lamp shade. A mirror like golden surface is lit and reflects the light due to its irregular shape at various angles.
