Hearth is an outdoor lounge concept that De Ferm – Vanderhenst made for the Woodstock Design Contest. The modular segments can be organized in different ways, making endless variations possible.
Hearth is made out of three kinds of wood, a material that perfectly fits in nature as well as in urban landscapes. For the basic structure they used oak, a strong type of wood that ages nicely in an outdoor environment. They chose not to treat the oak wood to give it an original, rough look that matches the shape of the structure.
Hearth reached the final stage of the Woodstock design competition 2012 in Paris.
