During the Stockholm Furniture Fair, Kasthall launched the first rug from their 2019 collection Soul of Nature. The theme of the collection is inspired by the changing landscapes and colors of nature.
The focus of Soul of Nature has been on producing rugs using natural materials from Kasthall’s factory in Kinna, Sweden. The collection is made up of rugs where the wool’s natural mottling shines through, creating unique expressions. At the same time, a harmonious combination of accent colors reflects the nuances of the changing seasons. Curiosity in terms of technique and craftsmanship was the driving force that challenged the Kasthall Design Studio into creating new originals. The hand-tufted rug Feather, with its tousled linen fringed edge is an excellent example.
Feather is an elegant, playful rug, inspired by the feather boas and fringes of the 70s, as well as how plumage and feathers reflect the light and shift in color. By zooming in on photos of peacocks, Kasthall’s designer Ellinor Eliasson was inspired to create this eccentric hand-tufted rug in wool and linen bouclé with two different pile heights. Matt wool and shimmering linen together reflect the dynamism of the unexpected accent colors of a feather. The rug is framed by a characteristic and playful linen fringe with attractive shifts in color.
Feather is available in four different color scales, inspired by four birds: the peacock, the flamingo, the rhea and the heron. The tone-on-tone of the wool and linen base is broken up by a border fringe in a nuanced mélange, depending on color palette.
