The softwood with straight grain is ideal both as construction timber and also for the interior finishing work. When they are smoked, the Douglas fir veneers get a rich red-brown color and can be optimally used thanks to the large dimensions and veneer matching of the log. Our Douglas fir from the Spessart forest has particularly fine annual rings and is characterized by a striking proportion of sapwood. So it is not surprising that smoked Douglas fir veneers were chosen for the wood paneling of the huge hotel lobby of the Marina Bay Sands – probably the most spectacular architectural complex in Singapore. We offer smoked Douglas fir as veneers in standard thicknesses (veneer in standard thicknesses and thicker veneers) as well as smoked Douglas fir sawn timber.
