Vanceva offers a wide range of colored laminated glass options for architects and designers to create unique and vibrant spaces. With over 69,000 transparent, translucent, or solid colors to choose from, Vanceva's PVB interlayer is unmatched in terms of color range. The system is based on a foundational palette of 16 basic colors that can be combined in up to four layers to produce custom-colored glass.

Benefits

Vanceva color interlayers can be combined with tinted or reflective glass to create endless design possibilities.  In addition to adding color, Vanceva's interlayers provide added utility to architectural spaces by blocking harmful UV radiation up to 99% to 380 nm, reducing solar heat gain, and controlling solar glare. Vanceva's color interlayers are made with heat- and light-stable colorants to ensure long-term color stability. Spectrophotometry, color indicators, and visual color matching are used to determine the best Vanceva color configuration for projects when color matching to other materials is required.

Applications

For both interior and exterior applications, architects can use Vanceva white interlayers to create stunning designs that either offer opacity for private settings or allow light to pass through with translucent designs. These interlayers can bring a whole new aesthetic to balconies, curtain walls, atriums, skylights, partitions, conference rooms, and glass doors.

Colors

Vanceva offers architects and designers an extensive range of color options for glass. The design possibilities are nearly limitless when Vanceva color interlayers are combined with tinted or reflective glass, making it ideal for use in various applications such as curtain walls, atriums, skylights, partitions, and conference rooms.

Vanceva color interlayers use heat- and light-stable colorants instead of dyes to resist fading and ensure long-term color stability. The white interlayer can be used alone or combined with other Vanceva colors to create translucent to near-opaque laminated glass. Vanceva's color technology is reliable and can produce the right white in every light.

Translucent colors

Translucent colors can be created by adding one of the white translucent interlayers to the color mix, which is ideal for design or privacy purposes. Any transparent Vanceva color can be made translucent by incorporating these translucent layers.

Earth Tones collection

Soothing colors are a great way to incorporate a calming effect into architectural designs. The Earth Tones collection offers a range of 11 colors in shades of blue, grey, green, brown, and bronze.

Foundation colors

The foundation palette comprises eight basic colors that are available in two light-transmittance levels, including pink, blue, grey, and yellow. By layering these interlayer colors in various combinations, a myriad of transparent color options can be produced.

Specialty colors

Single-layer Vanceva colors with very concentrated colorants can add brilliant hues to laminated glass. Vanceva offers a range of specialty colors, including golden light, sapphire, evening shadow, ruby red, coral rose, aquamarine, smoke grey, sahara sun, deep red, true blue, tangerine, and ocean grey.

Solid colors

Vanceva® Polar White (color F) and Absolute Black (color G) interlayers are solid colors that can be combined with any other color selection to create a near-opaque color while producing entirely different looks on each side of the glass.

Reference projects

Kaleidoscope in Tianshui

The use of Vanceva PVB interlayers has brought a new level of vibrancy to the design of Kaleidoscope, a recently built kindergarten in Tianshui, Gansu Province, China. The architects at SAKO Architects sought to create a magical child's toy-like atmosphere, and the use of colorful glass was integral to achieving this goal. Shanxi Jingfeng Glass Co., Ltd fabricated ten vibrant Vanceva PVB interlayers into laminated glass, which was used repetitively in arches above doors and windows, as well as inside on the handrails of corridors and stairs. The result is a beautiful and playful application of colored glass that makes the kindergarten look inviting, cheerful, and inspiring for children. The proportions of the color splashes against the white envelope are just right, and the choice of soft gradient colors adds to the overall effect. When sunlight shines into the school's atrium onto the central stairway, it forms colorful shadows of varying shapes. These free-flowing rainbows overlap, creating a beautiful kaleidoscope effect that rotates with the sun's movement throughout the day.

Rainbow Glass Cliff

The Rainbow Glass Cliff project in Beijing, China, has become a popular tourist attraction, with approximately 500,000 visitors every year. The architectural firm Beijing Xinmei used Vanceva PVB interlayers to create the colorful progression of colors in a rainbow-like pattern on the glass floor and railing. The glass balcony, supplied by Beijing Guanhua East, spans 128 meters across the cliff, with a width of 800 mm for both the floor and the railing. The glass used includes 15-mm heat soak FT + RB41 + 6-mm heat soak FT for the balcony railing and 15-mm heat soak FT + RB71 + 15-mm heat soak FT for the glass floor. The Rainbow Glass Cliff provides a breathtaking view from the edge of the cliff, with natural lighting passing through the colored panes that make for a truly magnificent sight to see. The use of Vanceva PVB interlayers in this project has not only enhanced the visuals of the Rainbow Glass Cliff, but also provided safety and durability to the structure.

Power station of Terlinden

The colored glass roof over the entrance at the power station of Terlinden, the former textile dyeing company in Küsnacht, Switzerland, is a moving work of art. Vanceva PVB interlayers play a crucial role in the creation of the glass roof over the entrance at the power station of Terlinden. These interlayers are made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) and are used to bond the colored glass panels together. The interlayers create a strong, durable, and safe laminated glass that is resistant to breakage, impact, and weathering.  In the case of the glass roof at Terlinden, the Vanceva PVB interlayers were used to create colored rectangular panels, which were then interspersed with grey panels. The use of concept colors from the Chromatic Circle of Johannes Itten, combined with the Vanceva PVB interlayers, allowed artist Ritchie Riediger to create a dynamic and visually striking work of art. The interlayers allow for a variety of color combinations, which can be customized to suit any design preference. Additionally, the interlayers provide UV protection, which helps to prevent the colors from fading over time.
