The new workshop building is located in the industrial area of Bad Homburg next to the existing administration building. It provides space for storage and loading of the roofing materials and integrates workshops and staff rooms. The hall measures 75 x 62.5 m with a usable hight for storage of 7.5m and is laid out as an open and unheated storage and distribution area for 40 vehicles. In the extension of the office building the rooms are laid out on two stories with the tempered metal workshop on the groundfloor and the changing and sanitary facilities for the workers as well as the staff and meeting rooms on the first floor. The hall is designed as a compact volume, characterised by cuts and modulations of the facade. The large volume is visually and structurally divided into two horizontal zones: the plinth and the roof. The plinth is made of precast concrete and serves as the foundation and also as the collision protection. It is smoothly rendered externally. The roof structure made of glued-laminated girders spans over 30 metres. It is covered with a roof skin and façade covering of trapezoidal metals sheets. The graphit coloured metal façade breaks up into vertical metal fins at the recessed areas. The fins with their bold red colouring accentuate each side of the façade, providing structure in front of the windows, emphasizing the soffit of the canopy or simply acting as an eye catcher! In the central hall the spatial roof structure of three-bay trusses generates a light and remarkable space. The central hall, together with the carefully detailed features of the entire building support the corporate identification.
