The site lies on a point with views across Sydney Harbour. The fall of the site has been taken advantage of, allowing the residence achieve basement carparking + step down in pavilion form. The ground floor consists of 3 pavilions, linked together. Formal living + an office reside at the front. Step lead down to a central kitchen + dining room overlooking the pool. These flow into a casual living area at the rear, with guest room + wet areas tucked in behind stairs. These stairs lead up to a private master retreat that captures harbour views. Adjacent to the front formal living, stairs within a void lead up to another 3 more bedrooms that address the street. Within a heritage conservation area, the form and building materials are conservative and recessive in nature to minimise impact. Dark, neutral tones of painted rendered masonry create frames + bays. Within these are aluminium screened areas of glazing to provide privacy and control direct sunlight.
