In the context of the refugee crisis architecture is playing a growing role. Residential accommodation for refugees must accept the needs of these people but must also take into account our aesthetic demands. Through probate residential accommodation the social integration of refugees could be further promoted.
But although we are expecting alone in this year more than a million refugees who are coming to Germany, and the influx is also in the next year and in 2017, 2018 ...,wooden structure instead of container so far the authorities are only planning for the moment. However, tents and tin containers are no adequate shelter for the very different social, ethnic or religious needs of the people from the war zones in the Middle East or Africa.
Our feasibility study, which was initially conceived as an idea for student accommodation, is based on the fact that wood structures enable fast, efficient and economical construction process due to the high degree of prefabrication. With the wooden residential modules both urban vacant lots can be filled flexibly and backyards cab be densified. Even disused barges could be made habitable with these wooden cubes as Floating Houses.
