Wine is one of the most evocative drinks on earth. A glass of wine conveys a whole range of emotions, ambiances, colors, tastes ; it is also the symbol and the result of a long heritage and rich culture. From the grape to the cup, wine passes through a wide spectrum of colors and evoques multiple textures, patterns, moods, and materials. These served as an inspiration to build up a repertoire of sensorial, formal and architectonic systems that we deployed in our proposal for the Wine Museum.
The museum roofs mimetize the aspect and relief of vineyards that define stripes flowing in the direction of the slopes. The rich palette of wine colors, from pale greens and yellows to intense, dark purples, is reproduced in various parts of the building, mainly through tainted glass. Some materials are intimately related to the wine production process, like wood for the barrels and glass for the bottles. We used these thouroughly in the building to maintain a coherence with our subject.
