Wildspace is a 4,000 sq meter light industrial space created for the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, who has been assigned the task of delivering vibrant and sustainable communities in the London Thames Gateway. Located adjacent to the Rainham station and visible by passing Eurostar trains, the ‘supershed’ is highly visible. And located opposite to the recreational and nature conservation area of Rainham Marshes, Wildspace is in a supremely unique location with the potential for businesses to thrive in a completely re-imagined sustainable industrial building.
Wildspace consists of five stand alone business units with individual service yards, loading bay access and cores. The 90 meter building is visually divided into colorful strips. The north end of the building, which faces the marshes, is clad in naturally colored timber in respect to the nearby ecosystem. Super insulation on the building’s envelope ensures reduced energy usage, which is part of the building’s overall sustainability strategy, which earned Wildspace a ‘Very Good’ rating under the BREEAM green building standards. Work began on the project in September of 2010 and was completed in April of 2011.
