Villas del Mirador - VDM It is a housing estate, located in Los Cacicazgos, just in the Caonabo Street with Onaney; it is 100 mts far from Mirador Sur Park, in one of the most attractive residential areas in Santo Domingo. The area which is going to be intervened is an irregular lot of 2,571 mts2, North oriented, where we have projected a group of (12) dwelling houses of approximately 250 mts2. Its structure of composition has been established through the relation between the shape of the lot and the big central shared space, which define the habitational structure. The main entrance of the project is a pavilion where the reception areas, administrative offices, waiting room, gym, driver's room, etc, is located. The vehicular and pedestrian accesses, vertiticals of interrelation, work as filter, protection and control of the ordinary activities of the street. The individualised entrance and exit take you to the parking areas of each unity (capacity for 4 vehicles), to the services areas and to the vertical access of them –one of service and other, the main one-, which introduces us to the social and dormitory areas. This nucleus stands on the street's outline, and it is the hall area of the big square which defines the spatial structure of the project. In its perimeter, the habitable unities are configured, that are connected directly with this enormous communitarian space that leads you, because of its characteristics, to a social interrelation and to the children enjoyment of the open air but in a protected place physical and visually. The third level of the project has been conceived especially for the dormitory activities and rest. These areas, which are distributed around the square or patio, allow the connexion with the outside, ventilation and natural light, which promote the enjoyment of the ordinary life in Villas del Mirador.
