Villa in the northern Ruhr District

Villa in the northern Ruhr District

Saint-Gobain Weber GmbH as Manufacturers

Three offset cuboids, stacked one on top of the other, each with a different surface finish, shape the villa in the northern Ruhr District that the PlanungsatelierRobenek designed for an entrepreneur.

Architect Markus Robenek placed particular value on the structural and creativeexecution of the details. Thus, for example, the cuboid of the upper floor rests on the ground floor in such a manner that no intersections occur. This line is emphasised through high-end materials in the interior as well as on the facade.

On the ground floor the exterior wall consists of a natural-stone curtain wall facade. The floor above it was given a white, biocide-free topcoat render from Saint-Gobain Weber with a particularly fine and uniform surface. In the set-back top floor, enamelled glass panels were bonded directly onto a mineral thermal insulation composite system. Large format south-facing, glass elements optimally supply the open floor plans with light.

Due to the energy-efficient building envelope, paired with a brine-to-water heat pump, as well as a central ventilation system with heat recovery, the villa achieves a primary energy requirement of just 21 kWh/m2a. Photovoltaic elements on a portion of the flat roof, produce power for the villa's own requirements, so that the building is virtually energy self-sufficient.
