Semi-detached villas in Täby, Stockholm
The assignment was to design two semi-detached villas in an apple orchard, with an existing mansion-like building in the background. The zoning allowed building of 800 sqm, in this case divided into two volumes with a total of four housing units. The buildings’ exterior is made of black lime washed horizontal wood paneling accented by protruding entrances in contrasting natural wood. The roof is covered with zinc sheets. The floor plan has a staircase at the façade and relatively compact entrances, with the bathroom and laundry grouped at the opposite end. This creates interlocking open spaces on the ground floor, which are in direct contact with the generous outdoor spaces, the two terraces and garden, through large sliding glass partitions. The upper level accommodates three bedrooms, a family room, a walk-in closet and a bathroom. The attic can be furnished as aloft. The properties measure 400-500 m2, each with its own parking.
