Our aim is to suggest an housing articulation that gives a point of view both to the city and to the intimate to combine/blend several dreams often unconsciously claimed by the human living: providing a reassuring feeling of protection and comfort. We are here in the register of the “placed one upon the other” house register. We start with a porous facade clearly facing south, a position which allows us to deal with this concept in depth, pushing further the double skin and provide generous outdoor spaces with double height.
The second aspect of this project is the materiality to make light of the difference between primary and secondary shell, which opposes a rough concrete and a shiny and smooth surface to finally bring it to a material aspect of the glass. Communal circulation areas were reduced to their minimum and perfectly streamlined to allow pride to benefit of living space and double height. However, the hall is particularly generous and going all the way through to the heart where a local bike is placed in its center. Thus, its use is easy and the access simplified. In the heart of Paris, in the 18th district, an area in deep transformation – construction, development, green space traffic – the goal is to respond to a density requirement without not caring about the quality of the building and its function . The lively facade, the “placed one upon the other” concept, participate in this unconscious desire to see home within your home.
Organized in duplex, apartments do not occupy the entire area on the second level. This allows the opening spaces enjoying a double height ceiling. The openings are adapted to different heights to provide wide open or otherwise intimate and protected spaces.
