A two generation family house is situated near our horizontal villa from 2008, on a hill at the outskirts of Ostrava Petrkovice. The building is located along the access road of the sloping plot's north-east boundary and is oriented towards sunlight and the town views. We have proposed the house in two volumes symbolising two generations. The outcome is a reduction of scale of the house. The materials used for both volumes are identical to support the relationships of the family "cluster". The volumetric shift creates external spaces on the street side of the house (parking courtyard) and at the garden side (protected terrace). The sloping nature of the site is reflected in the "raumplan" like interior of the main living area which has an increased ceiling height.
There are two residential units with separate entrances - the main family apartment which takes up the whole of the ground floor and the upper floor of the western volume and the grandmother's apartment located on the upper floor of the east volume. A sunny sheltered loggia is attached to the grandmother's apartment. The entrance volume is different in the use of materials, where steel panels are used for cladding to reflect the client's profession as the world's biggest steel manufacturer representative.
