Begin of January 2013 the building process of the refurbishment of the town hall Borsele in Heinkenszand / NL started. The mediocre 1980ties building will be completely transformed by adding new facades and the re-design of the interior. The facades and the roof will be insulated to realise a better energy performance of the town hall and cladded with a continuous membrane of dark-green glass tiles covering the roof and the existing brick wall. The original aluminium window frames will be removed and replaced by new structural glazing windows producing together with the glass tile facade a very smooth, dark and shiny skin. The heads of the office building will be extended and transformed into more flexible landscape offices. These spaces will be opened with big panorama windows giving the employees the possibility to enjoy views over the Dutch polder landscape. The entrance of the town hall will be extended as well to realize a more convenient and inviting public foyer.
