Overview
This trend and application centre located in the Swarovski office Shanghai, China, is uniquely designed with an aim to demonstrate the brand’s latest launched crystals, themes of the season and crystal application methods.
The abstract interpretation of crystal with stunning facets featuring walls and ceiling surfaces within this tiny space measuring 120sqm, symbolized a new age in the crystal dynasty that is strong and sustainable.
Brief & Concept Stage
Design Brief
Literally a display conference room, it was creatively designed as a place for inspiration to welcome fashion designers along with merchandisers and to encourage them to incorporate Swarovski crystals into their products.
The designer advised that the centre must be designed in a way that appeals to the market. The client was then persuaded to proceed with a bold and brave design, aimed to ‘knockout’ viewers with its magnificent impact. A brave idea was then aroused expressing and exaggerating the perception of crystal. The Centre is itself, a magnified crystal where people have the opportunity to step inside and feel like part of this most luxurious of glasses.
The Most Important Elements
The space is connecting to the sales team on the next door, in term of operation. For this reason, many details and design features were designed for aesthetic and practical purposes:
* Behind the sculptural facets are storage shelves for everything to the purpose of operating the space.
* Feature wall on entrance side were incorporated with concealed display shelves for various choices of collections astonishing visitor’s impression while doors opened.
Allowing good connection to the sales department while maintaining its own uniqueness, a huge concealed door playing part of the facet wall allows access to the main office.
Pearl finish in white toning automobile spray paint the facet walls. This, together with the same white finish meeting table at the centre, the angled pattern ceiling that diligently housed lighting and building services facilities, have all been tided in to echo each other with the same mission to ‘spot on’ the displaying crystal themes.
