Masterplan competition for Shang Fang Mountain Three Gardens’ project. The site is located in the beautiful Stone Lake at Suzhou, adjacent to the famous Shang Fang Mountain and numbers of existing culture tourism attractions.
The Masterplan framework aims to explore the natural beauty of the Stone Lake and create the contrast to the traditional Suzhou Garden architecture with deep integration to the landscape. The design adapts the inspiration from a single leave texture and developed minimal paths for the framework along with the rhythm of the Stone Lake. The structure allows maximum flow throughout the development to create the natural setting for this multi-function tourism destination and high permeability of the site linking the mountain and the lake.
The architecture is designed to illustrate local culture and nature, e.g. mountain, dragon, shell, ect. The building facade mainly uses bamboo, wood and other eco-friendly construction materials with sustainability approach.
