SHR house is located in a suburb west of tokyo.
You have good views from there because site is above the cliff.Zelkovas which had been there were left for making the shade in summer, for windbreaks, and for keeping the cliff from breaking.
There are three gray volumes, with shed roof and plastered wall, and one space surrounded by the volumes.Parents couple (S) ,their daughter’s family (H) and son’s family (R) had started to live together in the house, and each family has the volume.
The space is used as common space, sometimes dining space, living space, and also sometimes children's football stadium. The boundary of the space between the inside and the outside is make up of full height wooden sliding windows,so it is wide open to outside.
There’s a gate on each volume next to the space.
The first room through the each gate is functional room, closet, kitchen and gallery. The boundary of each volume is naturally mixed by sharing them.
There are bedrooms , study rooms and bathrooms back of the functional room in each volume.
They live in like a large family in common space and they live in like a small family in each volume. When they go to the common space, they can feel as if going outside. And they can have open mind, looking at views from there.
