The restoration/expansion of this 1908 Colonial Revival-style mansion and adjacent carriage house consolidates all of the Council’s administration offices under one roof, and accommodates a specialized learning center for children with dyslexia.
The project's overriding design challenge was reconciling the client’s preference for a forward-looking, contemporary headquarters with the surrounding community’s desire to preserve a cherished building and site. The design solution expands the original three-story, 7,840 square foot mansion with a 26,077 square foot wing and main entrance rotunda, replicating the scale and massing of the original building, and incorporating similar materials including red brick and cast-stone accents.
