ROYAL APART HOTEL

João Diniz Arquitetura as Architects

The plot in the center of the block, on a busy street, facing the setting sun suggested that the building is closed for this quadrant presenting the two side plates separated by blind tear that illuminates the common area of the floor. The openings occur laterally in continuous and rhythmic square windows of the apartments.

The relationship of the building with its heights makes present different solutions in a game of progressive composition from the ground level to the sky offering its identity in the urban skyline.

Access from the street is through broad and inviting hall, triple height, which works as arrival and protected space, an extension of the street outside. This space has been the impact of a warm welcome by coating the walls of wood and studied details that combine metal, glass and lighting. The staircase, which leads to the mezzanine where are the restaurant and convention areas, plays an important role in the composition of this inner area connecting vertically the void.

The configuration of the lot provided the location of a green recreational area at the rear of the second floor with semi-olympic pool, locker area, sauna and bar, in addition to private terraces for the apartments. The other floors have seven accommodation units each with the exception of the last, with four rooms linked to private terraces. The garages are underground and partly on the ground floor.

In this project have been studied and proposed several items, in different scales, for the program of a hotel. In addition to detailing and specification of all the interiors were also designed several pieces of furniture, works of art and suggestion for the staff uniform, creating unity among the urban image of the building and the interior architecture, among public and intimate environments, among the dynamics of travel and a new home comfort.
