A small house in the centre of Avola. A city destroyed in 1693 by a big earthquake, and rebuilt on a modern grid of perpendicular street within an exagonal perimeter.A large and square piazza with nearby minor ones marks the heart of town, according to the typical Renaissance design.
The existent builiding has a beautiful facade, and needed to be consolidated. Inside we found a one big height ground floor, with small spaces.
The homeowner wanted to create 2 levels if possible, increasing all the areas. Once i the storic center, municipal regulations did not allow increase the height of the existent building. At the end we have created two diferent floors using the existent height. The ground floor for all public areas (kitchen, Living.room, dining room, small office, bathroom). The first floor for all private areas (2 Rooms and 2 bathrooms).
