Rabobank Salland in Deventer

Rabobank Salland in Deventer

SKETS architectuurstudio as Architects

The Rabobank Salland has a number of offices in the area. The bank decided to locate the headquarters in the city of Deventer as an addition to the establishment of multiple user friendly customer services spread over the rural area. The new headquarters will be housed in an existing office building. A starting point for the design was the identity of the bank, which is strongly regionally rooted. In multiple sessions approximately 100 people were consulted about their vision on the Rabobank Salland. By using images and collages their personal core value for the bank were translated in paintings which we used as a base for the design of the individudual spaces.

The atmosferes in the meeting and concentration spaces represent the local landscape, towns and cities while the spaces focussed on client relation relate to the identity of the local Rabobank organisation. This combination resulted in a multitude of different spaces in which all the users/clients from the area could find their own points of recognition within the building. Structurally a vertical connection was made from the entrance to the first floor, connecting the restaurant to the seminarspace. The top four floors are open workspaces where routing is indicated by the use of different materials. Multiple meeting zones were created with different functions such as: working, meeting, gathering, concentration.

In this project it was not about deciding on materials and colors but to really get a grip on the identity of the organisation. To truly define who they are and to make that recognizable within the building.
