An oversized media display made of 400m² powerglass® media façade elements has been built at Seoul Train Station Bus Transfer Center. Twelve transparent bus shelters with dimensions of 8m (L) and 2,50m (H) are equipped with approx. 3,000 white LED.
On the back and top of the shelters video clips, city and weather information, news and service information for the busses can be shown. “Furthermore this media system can adjust location dependent information. Through motion sensors, an urban bus information system (BIS), an infrared sensor for the bus arrival and online networks complex interactions between people and infrastructure are possible.” (reddot jury)
The project was initiated by Hyundai Card as an "art shelter": a unique urban project, combining art with the latest technology.
The design of the media bus shelter at Seoul station has been honored with three of the most prestigious international design awards: The iF product design award, reddot design award & IDEA Gold award.
