Paseo Central San Juan del Río

Paseo Central San Juan del Río

paisaje radical as Landscape Architects

San Juan del Rio is a mid size city in the state of Queretaro (MEX). The road to Tequisquiapan (FED120), that connects Queretaro and the city of Tequisquiapan, constitutes an impassable urban barrier that divides the historic part of San Juan del Rio (to the West) and the emerging developments (to the East). The pedestrian flow on the highways is intense, especially considering the existence of services on both sides, Such as a HOSPITAL (west side) and a Institute of Technology on the (east).

The project was focus mainly in making the barrier permeable, by demolishing the bridge and generating a linear path with a grove alongside the entire urban area. A bike path and pedestrian ways/paths are develop alongside the grove to allow the recreational usage, but above all to facilitate the alternative mobility in San Juan del Río. Pedestrian crossing lights with reasonable ramps allow a safe crossing and the linear oak grove bring unity to the urban and industrial landscape.
