In Oss, a car park and apartment complex now stand on the site of a former textile factory/weaving mill. By adopting transparency, clarity and weaving as its themes, Molenaar & Van Winden architects have given the past a new place in the design of the complex. Together with the architect, façade specialists, Entropal, were given the time and space to come up with inventive solutions that ensured the aesthetic qualities were kept both technically feasible and affordable. Using cover strips, colours and shade patterns, the weaving theme was quickly brought to life. Clever placement of the pillars creates the optical illusion that the 55-metre long curtain wall is curved. The standard aluminium FW 50+ Schüco profile system proved to be the most flexible in terms of heights, inclines and outer appearance. Despite its brief existence, the car-park design has already won an award: the European Standard Parking Award (ESPA). The residents of Oss can be justly proud of their new eye-catching attraction: Het Weefwerk.
