Located in the green and being an integral part of the new masterplan for the citypark, the Park Stadium is a large arena for 20.000 spectators tucked in the landscape. The arena is strategically located near the perimeter road on the northeast end of the site, easily accessible both by car and public transport. Visible as one of the park main attractions, the Stadium is equally an architectural and a landscape project. The artificial hill, which is at the same time the roof of the stadium, is constructed of simple and inexpensive system of roof trusses. Over the arena, the trusses carry strips of soil which are covered with different types of green. The southwest of the arena is open to a central public plaza, creating a stage for people to rest, meet and watch the events on the green. The ambitious design is a vibrant integration of unique architecture with its natural surroundings and strengthens the ambition of the city to create a new attractive public park for the people.
