The Paragon Tower: A landmark with solid dynamism

Reynaers Aluminium as Facade system

The paragon Tower is shaped as a simple rectangular prism rising up from its base. The office building was designed by architect Gokhan Aksoy and is located in the Çukurambar district of Ankara Turkey. It comprises 27 floors of office space and five floors offering social and commercial facilities as well as service areas, parking facilities and gardens.

The office tower is a simple rectangular prism with two interlocking L-shaped floor surrounding the lift shaft and stairwell at the centre. The 27 floors of office space offering approximately 12,000 square metres in a 32-floor structure with a total of 44,600 square metres of construction area including social and commercial facilities as well as services areas and parking facilities. The lower level entrance serves as an entrance to the tower itself, while the upper level entrance provides access to the courtyard, located in the terrace at the base.

Inviting courtyard

The Paragon Tower exhibits many similarities with its siblings scattered around the area. As in many other dense urban locations, the architects had to maximise the floor area in the simplest way, allowing them to show their creativity only through the façade articulation since the volume are partly defined by the restrictive zoning laws. The façade patterns formed by anodised aluminium cladding and Reynaers’ CW 50-SC and CW 50 systems also enhances the dynamism of the tower.

Floating canopy

The two large independent units situated on the edges of the rectangular plot have been designed to be used as large stores, and they are cleverly united with the base of the tower by means of an elegant floating canopy. The interior courtyard formed by these independent units and the canopy is well integrated with the base of the tower, intended to create and effective public place in Ankara.

LOCATION
Paragon Tower, located in the center of Ankara's prominent investment and living space, has risen in an important center for the business world due to the fact that the lands in the region are commercial areas. The structure, which aims to enhance the district includes many public institutions and administrative units, aims to create a new living space in the city in search of new discourses in line with its own design decisions.

The building consists of two entrances, which are settled in different ground levels. As the lower level serves as an entrance to the tower, the upper level serves as an entrance to courtyard, placed in the terrace of the base.

MASS FORMATION

Paragon Tower is shaped by two ‘L’ shaped masses shrinking around its core and extending upwards ,which aims to give a green touch to Ankara’s  gray skyline.

The building offers semi-open spaces to the users, with 4 floor gardens designed for social activities and interactions , while creating a vertical landscape area for the city.

In this context, the structure of Paragon Tower is defined and gained value through its mass voids.

Also,

1- Special selection of low heat permeability glass selections

2- Automation-dependent heating and cooling systems

3- Use of environmentally and human friendly paint

4- Use of local materials

5- Roof solutions that reduce the heat island effect

6- Water-saving reservoirs, photocell fittings and urinals

7- Conditioning ventilation and CO2 control

8-Light pollution prevention lighting choices Preparation of

9-LEED CS Building User Manual

10-Energy efficient applications With the use of PARAGON Tower; LEED is a Silver Candidate.

Paragon Tower, located on the Konya-Eşkişehir road, one of the most active urban development area in Ankara, stands out with its environmental and ecological features in line with this approach. This building consists of 29 floors and has height of 116,35 m.

Paragon Tower creates the dynamism with its mass decision and bring together users and green.

CITY-CITIZEN RELATIONSHIP

The building is situated on a slope and has two entrances. The lower road level takes the tower entrance while the upper road level takes the upper courtyard entrance on the terrace of the base.

At the entrance of the tower, the building was withdrawn from the road, so that this gap was defined by both the eaves and the building and fortified with urban sculptures planned for landscaping.

The semi-public space formed by the upper courtyard, which was designed to create an integrity between the tower and the base, provided the integration of both building and urban users. This effect is reinforced by the eaves which connect all the units and the tower on the terrace and form a semi-open space. This upper courtyard is supported by social and cultural spaces. It is aimed not only to belong to the tower and its user, but also to create an environment that connects with the city and the citizen.
