The refurbishment addresses the needs of the client – new owner and single occupant of this apartment. One of the priorities was to open up the space as much as possible, allowing light to get through. A chimney wall naturally separates the apartment into two spaces: entry space with bathroom, kitchen and dining; and living room with bedroom space. This natural separation creates a feeling of intimacy in spite of the new open plan arrangement of the space. The original concrete ceiling was revealed and cleaned to become part of the interior look. To contrast the rough ceiling, a fine-finished oak floor has been laid as single surface across the entire apartment. Simple plywood furniture is used with exception of a minimal light blue kitchen line.
