The interior has been designed for the limited liability company of House Design having its seat in an older office building that dates back to the eighties of the 20th century. The building is part of an industrial zone located on the outskirts of Hradec Králové. The client's company has hired only part of the building, the rest is currently being used by other companies. For that reason, we could not make any changes in the façade of the building or in the space of the shared corridor. According to the original design development document, two new offices should have been created from a larger unoccupied room just next to the original company's offices. The room should have been divided into two smaller ones and into a small hall separating the offices from the corridor and interconnecting both the rooms. In view of the fact that the offices would have been too small, we decided to abandon the original idea of the hall and we designed just optical partition of the room using built-in furniture.
One part of the room serves as a storage space while the other part serves as an actual office with desks, chairs, armchair and other pieces of office furniture. The storage space consists of cabinets and shelves covering the walls of the room floor-to-ceiling. In some empty places, the wall behind the cabinets and shelves is covered with laminated boards. The basic colours of the interior are white and black. These basic colours are only supplemented with red upholstery of the chairs. Simple constructional modifications have been made using plasterboard partition walls and a plasterboard acoustical ceiling. The concept of this interior design is based on the idea of a simple interior pattern which could be repeated in other company's offices in the future.
