The Dutch offices of the lighting manufacturer Flos are housed in one of the new, loft-like production areas in the Cruquius Kwartier neighbourhood of Amsterdam. M+R has given the large, open space a restrained design. The simple And powerful architectural lines have been consistently continued throughout the interior. The floors are made of smooth concrete, the ceilings remain exposed, making a feature of the air-conditioning system and cable ducts. Light aluminium fronts divide the separate functions. The actual space has hardly been changed. The furniture, with among other things a very long table for meetings, dominates through its large dimensions. This approach emphasizes the lighting, with sculptures arranged throughout the space.
