The Nuova Bibliotecacomunale di Briosco

The Nuova Bibliotecacomunale di Briosco (NBB) proposal reflects on the orography of the site as main value, engaging a fruitful dialog with the needs expressed. The result would be a unique public space for the entire local community. The wall, as main spatial and figurative element of the project, continuously enclose the shape of the library, its spaces and cuts the slope of the hill in order let people access the spaces from both levels. On the top, no emerging volume is visible and the NBB serves as terrace on the landscape and extends the existing park of Briosco. On the street level, a public plaza introduces the main reading room, letting the façade modulate the indirect sunlight. The reading room is conceived ad bookshelves-defined space, where everyone can lose his sight in the books. Additional rooms-inside-the-room have been placed to implement the multimedia section and the kids section. The green roof is naturally insulated and provides photovoltaic panels for the main library’s energy consumption.
