Architecture and stage design for a removable wood structure theater.
The New Yurt theater is a space dedicated to small performance forms, ready to get around, in order to broadcast the show wherever the people have no access to it. This architecture belongs to the circus language, which represents in the same time its vocation to host the show, and its itinerant nature.
The external panels are all commutable and removable, to control the daylight and to transform the theater as a kiosque for summer time. Inside, a flexible curtain wall allows to redefine the space, to control the day light, and to hide storage stuff in case.
The construction has been thinking for its adaptability to be constructed by the workshops decors, in terms of construction Technics and materials. So for example, the wooden block normally debited in cleats to create decor panel, were here used with their full size to calculate the structure. And for economy issue also, some materials have been reused, such as the flexible wall which is in fact an old reconverted theater curtain.
