New Office space for a national sustainable energy company

A national sustainable energy company

Britacan as Architects

Project Summary

A national sustainable energy company was looking to give their corporate environment a young and fun face-lift to enhance their company culture. The goal was to provide their staff with a vibrant workspace that would reflect their corporate mission, which is to provide innovative and sustainable energy solutions. With a limited budget and a 7 week construction schedule, we provided creative alternatives to produce an energetic atmosphere.

The goal was to showcase the common office areas with texture, colours and patterns. The common office areas include open, informal collaborative zones and exciting private meeting spaces. Through these design elements, the energy level and team collaboration have increased which, in turn, has enhanced productivity.

One of the client’s requests was to unite outdoor elements with the interior. Through graphic film design, trees that surround the outside of the building have been mimicked in the interior. This not only met the client’s objectives but also created a key focal point in the main corridor. All areas were carefully considered in the design development; whiteboard paint was introduced in each of the private offices and meeting areas to encourage company collaboration. Although the space is an open concept, acoustic privacy was created through lowering the ceilings and including soft textures in the workstation areas. In the common areas, the ceilings were left open to the slab. This was to create more interesting collaborative spaces and common areas. To further convey the company image, sustainable materials have been incorporated throughout the space. These elements are represented through materials that include carpet tile, concrete flooring, finished chipboard feature walls, and energy efficient lighting.

It was through the incorporation of existing elements, sustainable materials and creative design techniques that the client’s mission was accomplished.
