HEEMwonen launched an ambitious project creating a “neighborhood of tomorrow”. This large-scale renovation project provides a complete transformation of 153 homes in the neighborhood Kaalheide, Kerkrade. A total of 153 social housing units were sustainably renovated according to the passive house concept. The houses date from 1974. Thanks to an innovative approach the homes were fitted with a completely new façade, a new roof and solar panels. In only ten days the energy class was raised from D to A, providing the residents with a saving of € 100,- a month on their energy bill.
To achieve this high class FAKRO FTT U6 roofwindows were used to provide energy saving and lots of natural light.
