ARCHELLO YOUR CONNECTION WITH ARCHITECTURE

The proposal of the building is to generate a construction that will be used for conventions, seminars and banquets supporting up to a thousand people.

The organic geometry of the building developed under a circular grid, generates continuity between spaces, a stimulation to flow through them. The building’s sinuous shell line grants it with a kind character. Following this line a disposition or alternating plans of glass and white concrete ripped the volume in its verticality from the buildings wholeness. From the inside this intermittent openings create the feeling of a colonnade connecting the gardens blurring the limit between inside-outside. Only the pieces holding the auxiliary uses are shown as solid and compact nucleus surrounded by the different spaces.

The program is solved in three levels. The main floor holds the assembly halls and the kitchen, on the second floor are the offices and a restaurant with its private kitchen for daily service. The garage is at the underground level with the store rooms.

The exterior is also planned, setting a connection with the nature, designing a particular vegetal environment. The garden works like a green edge with trees, grass, white flowers... The circular fountains add calmness to the whole. A special atmosphere is obtained.

The natural light is an important feature of the project, modelling shapes and inner spaces. The light shines through the big vertical holes in the edge of the building and covers the central area filtered through big glass lamps of the skylights. At nightfall the lighting becomes subtle and suggestive enhancing the atmosphere.

The building is a recreational space where, despite its size, the right combination of its elements makes it kind and evocative. Features that belong to the architecture, like geometry, landscape, light, sound, texture... are mixed to form a suggestive group.

The structure is solved with a three-dimensional mesh, which is rigid due to the compact stairs and services volumes. This kind of structure solves 22 meters length of spam without columns. The ceiling is made up by diameter-variable circular pieces, and the structure is shown through its gaps.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES

The most important part of the building’s construction are de white concrete prefabricated. The entire facade is modulated every 50 cm and combines modules of opaque parts with the transparent ones.

The prefabricated panels are 7,5 meters high and are from 05 to 2.5 meters wide. They are made specially for this building with all the section ( 16 cm) of white reinforced concrete and thermal insulator. In the fabrication process, it was used some big format steel casings in order to get a perfect smooth surface for the outer side. Every piece has a lineal hollow to place hidden lights that make a suggestive night illumination. The concrete used is made of white cement type BLII/A-LL52,5R, with a proportion of 400kg/m3 of cement, the aggregate diameter is between 12 and 25 mm.

The transparent modules have the same high as the prefabricated and are made of serigraphic glass, with a small drawing of white circles.
