MERcut Manufacturing Hall

MERcut Manufacturing Hall

Next Level Studio as Architects

The object is situated in an area of former collective farm in Stare Mesto, Czech republic. Most buildings in the area are in a rundown condition. The object of MERcut should have been the first impulse to its revitalization and transformation of the intended focus of industrial premises. Plan shape and situation of the building are determined by position of access road and rights to land. The building uses a maximum built-up land. For this reason, the rectangular shape of the southeast side is cut off into the trapezium.

Glass entrance part of the building is devoted to administration. The interior glass partition creates a vestibule and at the same time separates office manager from the open space administration. As part of this open space is timeout corner reserved for employees. The area is divided into only furniture which allows for easy future variability. Block dressing rooms and technical facilities are located in the second elongated building module and separates the manufacturing part of the building from the administration. To bridge of the width of 22 meters was designed roof truss construction, which is at the ends and in the middle supported. It consists of steel beams which are fitted with prefabricated reinforced concrete columns ranked in the longitudinal module 6m. At the instigation of the investor hall between the columns is bricked, although the facade panels do not require it.

The façade system is designed from the heat-insulating sandwich panels Trimo Qbiss thickness 100 mm. The panels are anchored into auxiliary rectifying substructure, which is located in areas of vertical joints. There was elected the economically most suitable module 6x1m panels. The panels are aligned with the glass facade in horizontal and vertical direction. Skylights are oriented to the north and dazzling sunbeams do not pass through to the production hall, that are inappropriate for precise engineering, but only diffuse daylight. Heating of the manufacturing is done by radiant panels located in the skylights. Into the skylights are also integrated fans providing air circulation. The interior is designed in curtly shades of white and gray, furniture from gray laminate is designed to measure. Office spaces are equipped with a gray epoxy floor, production area from polished concrete.

There was the request of the investor to change the use of the hall during construction. The production part was divided in partition and into the back of the building was built background for further hall operators. This change required to insert the door to the western facade. Gate was covered in the same facade panel as the rest of the hall, so that they do not disturb the pure character of facade.
