"LE SPA DE L’ARCHITECTE SIMONE MICHELI" - Maison & Objet 2014

Simone Micheli as Architects

“Le spa de l'Architecte Simone Micheli” is a masterpiece-place designed by the architect Simone Micheli for Maison & Objet Paris, September 2014 – a manifesto of the possible metamorphosis of experience through shapes, colours, content, spaces, thoughts. The aim of the work is to celebrate the transformation of everyday experimentation in active memory, incentive and smart guide to men that look for new ways to win challenges. The architect’s words underline the importance of SPA and wellness centres in the process of men’s re-appropriation of their original dimension - often scattered in whirling rhythms of contemporary age that break the natural emotional flow of individual and waste their innate sensorial receptiveness. “ These wellness centres are the preferential destination to break the exasperated cycle of everyday life e this is evident in their shapes and settings: they appear as places able to trace a border with the external world, their entrance becomes a kind of passage and their interiors a proper and real shelter. Fluidity of these places becomes vital sap of regeneration power, able to wake up senses of visitors that in this way begin to listen themselves again. The walked path of these oasis is made by conceptual and signs’ contaminations and it has the aim to celebrate of a re-found equilibrium, an harmony that is not pure perfection of bodies, ma deep inner wellness”. “Le Spa de l'Architecte Simone Micheli” is a smart refuge in which relax body and mind from the today frenzy. White and fluid walls wrap the human visitors in an imaginary and dreamy dimension in which researching their own wellness and rebuild an harmonic relation with themselves and with the world. The areas that constitute “Le Spa” are freely located along the path that every man begin for the realization of his own psycho-physical wellness; they appear following a rational but unknown drawing of the destiny. Rounded shapes and smoothed corners of furniture invite the visitor to develop a multisensory approach that, going over the supremacy of sight, gives the necessary attention to all human senses. Objects want to be touched, establishing intimate relations with bodies that can taste their fresh and refined consistency. The variety of used materials calls visitor to get in touch with each of them through different and peculiar ways based on their inner characteristics and on their desires. So each seat creates a space, a magic aura in which, sitting down, it is possible to discover the ancient roots. Fragments and transparencies shape the space following heterogeneous and changing perspectives, surfaces multiply and increase the idea of comfortable hospitality that the place offers. The alternation of empty and full spaces contributes to create a ephemeral and inconsistent bridge to the external world, leaving thoughts free of overstepping the line between dream and reality. The screens along the walls participate to the creation of new dimensions that are impossible to catch. The stimulating and regenerating atmosphere is concluded by beats of vital colours that break the candour of surfaces: electric yellow and acid green give energy to the place. Led lighting system traces evanescent borders of some furniture, increasing feelings of astonishment and wonder that , as a child discovering the world, every visitor feels in getting into a reality not already known and in getting nearer to the deepness of his essence. All the furniture is designed by the architect Simone Micheli and exclusively brought for the edition Maison & Objet 2014.
