This enclosed garden and greenhouse provide two avid gardeners ample outdoor space for growing vegetables, flowers, and herbs and climate controlled interior space for the seeding of various plants and the growing of orchids in cooler months.
The garden fence of cedar posts is 8 feet tall to protect from deer, but the sizing and spacing of the posts are designed to reduce the scale of the enclosure from a distance. Wire mesh and horizontal cables between the posts read as nearly transparent while providing adequate protection.
Known as a “pit greenhouse”, its floor is 4 feet below grade and uses the earth as added insulation. Additionally, sinking it allows the peak of the greenhouse to match the height of the fence uniting them and two flanking pergolas into one singular composition.
All glass is insulated and operable awning windows are thermostatically controlled.
