The Lab by Spacelab

Spacelab as Interior Architects

Outgrowing our own office, we decided it was time to create a working hub for Spacelab that was radically different to a traditional office. Our main objective was to create a new innovative office that is a living embodiment of task-based working and representation of our ability to deliver office design that looks beautiful and is operationally effective.

Natural light and a welcoming atmosphere was essential to transform the unprepossessing commercial unit into a showcase for current and future clients, offering them the opportunity to experience the benefits of a well-designed space and a new way of working first hand. Following our ethos of evidence based creative design, we started the design process based on our workplace studies and our unique and cutting edge software solutions to identify space requirements and potential integration and segregation levels.

The office separated on two floors presented us with the challenge of creating a space that would not leave staff sitting in the lower ground floor feeling isolated or secondary. By replacing the original narrow staircase and using our spatial analysis software to locate the ideal spot and size of the new staircase, we were able to flood the lower ground floor with natural light and increase visibility and therefore communication between staff on each floor.

The Lab by Spacelab is a multi-function flexible workspace for people who create great spaces. It is set up to facilitate movement and foster innovation, collaboration and great architecture through the integration of a large variety of strategically placed work and breakout spaces. As a result, our space is enjoyed just as much by the clients who frequent it as it is by the team members who develop their own remarkable spaces from within the space.
