The design of this modular predesigned rural house tries to incorporate different green initiatives using a modern, simple, and affordable architecture for a new starter couple. The small house, "la casita", tries to create an architecture that is easily adaptable to different environments, without loosing its basic design concepts.
Its lightweight and modular structure, raising the floor level a few feet above the ground level, makes it easily adaptable to different site conditions without requiring major soil intervention. This house could be easily located in different climate conditions as well. Using modular green roofs, rainwater collection systems, and renewable construction materials, "la casita" tries to incorporate green design strategies into the small structure.
An air space created between the corrugated panels and the wooden skin serves as additional insulation to the house. The house is divided into two segments separated by a common courtyard. This divides the house into a public and a private area. At the same time this courtyard serves as an adaptable open space adequate for social amenities.
For a young couple, the one bedroom house (convertible to two), tries to create a modern eco twist to a rural weekend home.
