When designing the relatively small office building, which got the prosaic name N2C (Nice to see) because of its lot number, the challenge was to give the building sufficient character and presence, so as to keep itself going among the taill buildings in the neighbourhood and make a valuable contribution to the urban development plan of Papendorp.
The simple main construction shows a number of technical details, such as a set-back entrance right across the width of the facade, marked by slanting concrete columns, with a brick roof terrace on the top floor, which is regularly used for meetings in the open air, an elevation which is shaped by substantial building-high brick pillars, and among them a kind of "random" DNA code horizontal lines, which emphasize the height of the building. The relation of gross to nett is very good (there is only one lift and one flight of stairs).
